Kings Worthy Pre-school is managed in a partnership between the staff and the committee. The Pre-school Committee is responsible for the overall management and smooth running of Pre-school.
The Committee is the employer of all staff at Pre-school so has overall responsibility for recruiting, training and developing staff, paying their salaries, and managing their contracts of employment. The Committee also has responsibility for things like developing a business plan, managing the daily accounts and, working with staff, ensuring Pre-school follows health and safety, risk assessment, insurance and first aid guidance and procedures.
The Pre-school staff team are highly qualified, Early Years Education experts and are employed by the committee to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) to the children in our care helping us to achieve our overall purpose on a day-to-day basis. The EYFS promotes the welfare and development of young children from birth to 5 years old and represents a baseline of quality which is intended to underpin continuous improvement and quality. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS including pre-schools, nurseries and school reception classes.
The Pre-school Committee is vital to the overall management of the Pre-school. As well as being responsible for employing the staff to run the setting, the Committee members are also the charity trustees of the Pre-school.
At Kings Worthy Pre-school we actively encourage parents/carers to become involved in Pre-school life. It is widely recognised through research, the vital role parents have in supporting their children’s learning and development. A lot of the work that our Committee does is fun and includes building new partnerships with other parents and professionals, coming up with new fundraising ideas, getting exciting plans off the ground and much more.
The Pre-school Committee is made up of elected parent/carer volunteers. The word ‘Committee’ can sound off-putting, but we are really a friendly group with a shared vision of excellence for our Pre-school with a little time to give to help run Pre-school. It’s not a huge commitment as we work together as one team to help deliver our vision.
We have many volunteering opportunities here at Pre-school and offer a variety of roles. You can use your existing skills or even develop new ones through training – which ever option you choose we will be there to help and support you - Please view our 'Being a Trustee document' below, get in touch via our contact form, volunteer sign up or email addresses included at the bottom of this page.
